On 11 December 2025, As reported in The Guardian, I have been targeted by a sophisticated, cross-border harassment campaign. The perpetrators used AI to generate deepfake pornography and physically mailed these images to my neighbours in the UK.
This incident is a case study in a new, hybrid threat: image-based sexual violence weaponised for transnational repression. It demonstrates a glaring security gap. State-aligned actors are leveraging the anonymity of AI and the complexity of international logistics to silence women activists in exile. The goal is not just defamation; it is to make the cost of public participation too high for women to bear.
I am speaking out because this is not just my story—it is a warning about the future of digital safety and human rights. We need legal frameworks that can catch up with these borderless digital crimes.
