Future of Free Speech 2023

At the Future of Free Speech Project Annual Conference in Stockholm — a collaboration between Justitia and Vanderbilt University — I spoke on freedom of expression in the context of transnational repression. I emphasized that free speech is not only a fundamental right but also a crucial defense against authoritarian attempts to silence dissent across borders. The conference brought together global experts, including UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief Nazila Ghanea and former UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression Professor David Kaye, to explore the future of this essential right.
