What happens when a regime puts a million-dollar bounty on your head—and then uses AI to hunt you across borders?

For demanding democracy in Hong Kong, a million-dollar bounty now hangs over my head.

At the Oslo Freedom Forum, I took the stage to reflect on surviving tear gas, rubber bullets, and constant surveillance, while confronting the terrifying new reality of transnational repression that follows dissidents like me into our everyday lives abroad. Beyond the financial bounty, the Chinese regime and Hong Kong government have pledged a “lifetime’s endeavour” to hunt us down.

Today, modern dictators are leveraging AI and emerging technologies to hyper-charge these oppressive tactics. When they targeted me with weaponised AI deepfakes, I refused to be silenced. Inspired by the courageous women who have also faced these digital attacks, I decided to make these images public for the very first time on the OFF main stage.

My story is not just one of exile, but of the defiant fight to stay visible when a regime seeks to erase you.
